One might expect all top celebrities, with their considerable fortunes, to reside in luxury dwellings — but it turns out plenty of A-listers favor cozy homes over sprawling estates.
To find out which celebs own the smallest homes in the US, StorageCafe looked at properties owned by TV stars, sports figures, movie stars, musicians and more. The final list consists of the top performers in each category according to net worth, ranked by the square footage of their homes. Those who didn’t own real estate in the US, or whose public data wasn’t available, were excluded from the analysis.
Key Findings:
-
The smallest home owned by an A-List celeb is Jimmy Kimmel‘s house in the Hollywood Hills, which measures just 1,962 square feet.
-
Of all the celebrities analyzed, movie stars make up most of the small-home owners — including Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood and Jack Nicholson who all rank in the top 10.
-
Musicians also account for several of the famous names on the list. Dave Matthews owns a 2,180-square-foot property in Seattle, while Dhani Harrison‘s Venice Beach home and Taylor Swift‘s Nashville residence measure 2,826 and 3,240 square feet, respectively
-
Just because these celebrities’ homes are small, that doesn’t mean they aren’t expensive. According to the study, an A-lister property is worth an average of $14 million.
-
Per square foot, the priciest celeb home by far belongs to musician Sting, whose New York dwelling spans 5,807 square foot home and cost $65.7 million (that’s around $11,300 per square foot).
