Christian rapper John Gabbana has raised concerns about the motivations behind recent celebrity conversions to Islam.
On Friday (December 29), the rapper formerly known as Boonk Gang — who converted to Christianity several years ago — took to Instagram in an attempt to educate viewers on the distinctions between the two religions and express his belief that Christianity is “the true world religion.”
“I’m starting to see celebrities convert to Islam like it’s a trend,” he began. “It’s cool to be Muslim now.”
“I’m curious on one thing. What’s drawing y’all to Islam?” he continued, firing off an inquiry. “Do y’all know there’s no miraculous information that Mohammed was even a prophet? He didn’t even write the Koran.”
“Check this out: the Koran was gathered and put together 600 years after the events of Christianity. Now, why would we take a document written 600 years later to tell us what happened to Jesus when we have eyewitness testimonies to tell us what happened to Jesus?” he asked rhetorically.
“It’s called the New Testament. It’s in your Bible. And the Muslim would claim the Bible is corrupt except where it helps their theology. Islam is not the true world religion. Christianity is.”

“Following Jesus FR comes w real persecution. I ain’t seen nun of dese ppl get as much hate and rejection as I do for sharing one’s faith,” he wrote alongside the video clip.
In a follow-up post, Gabbana, who received backlash for his initial comments due to what fans dubbed a lack of open-mindedness, explained he did his research and more importantly “had a supernatural encounter with God” before landing on Christianity.
“Instead of commenting foolishness under my post, grab you a pen n paper and start taking notes. U can learn a lot from watching n observing, stop always tryna be da one heard. Ya digg,” the caption reads.
Gabbana joins a growing list of celebrities to publicly speak about their faith. Earlier this month, Daddy Yankee — who has been moving crowds through his music for decades — announced he will be devoting his life to Christianity moving forward.
“Family: This day for me, is the most important day in my life,” he wrote on Instagram. “tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one.”
He then quoted Matthew 16: 26 from the New Testament, writing: “For what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, if he loses his life? Or how much can a man pay for his life?
“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father and with his angels, and then he will reward each one according to what he has done.”
