This year, 10 celebrities brought their A-game to to the New York City Marathon held on November, 5.
YouTuber and filmmaker Casey Neistat was the fastest out of 10 celebrity participants this year, finishing the marathon with a time of 3:01:27 and a pace of 6:56 min/mile.
Other notable celebrities who participated in the rest include Bachelor franchise alums Matt James and Zack Clark, and former Good Morning America anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes.
The annual marathon began in Staten Island this year at 8:00 am ET, and ended in Central Park.
It was televised on WABC-TV and ESPN2, and streamed on the ABC 7 New York App and the ESPN App.
The New York City Marathon began in 1970 as a four-plus loop of Central Park.
It became a five-borough race in 1976, and in 2023, the race route was just over 26 miles long.
This year, more than 128,000 drawing applications were received from 153 countries and all US states.
There are several ways people can enter the New York City Marathon.
The non-guaranteed entry is the lottery drawing, which is divided into three categories: NYC metro-area applicants, National applicants, and International applicants.
Runners who meet time qualifying standards posted by the New York Road Runners (NYRR) website can also get a marathon spot.
People can also enter if they choose to run on behalf of aa gold, silver, bronze, or community-level charity that is partnered NYRR.
Several celebrities entered the race and ran on behalf of their choice of charities.
Neistat chose to run on behalf of Project Healthy Minds – a non-profit organization spreading awareness on the mental health crisis.
The winners of the New York City Marathon both finished the race is less that three hours.
The men’s winner, Ethiopia native Tamirat Tola, finished the race in 2:04:58.
Kenyan native Hellen Obiri became the women’s winner after she completed the marathon in 2:27:23.
Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner, both from Switzerland, were the fastest in the men’s and women’s wheelchair categories – completing the race at 1:25:29 and 1:39:32 respectively.
